While growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. At the Maryland high school contest in her early years of education she received the award for best actress. Born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until 7 years old, Contractor was a seasoned traveler who enjoyed the world and an array of different cultures from a young age. She attended an boarding school in London between the ages of 7 and 9 years. Then, the family relocated away from London to Toronto, Canada. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school in which she did not only dance but also studied theatre. Contractor, who had been dancing for nearly 10 years by the time she was when she decided to pursue acting. When she graduated from high-school and was awarded an all-inclusive tuition grant to the University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Following a semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the world-class famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the role of lead. After 92 performances, she received praise from the audience. This play was named the top production in Canada by reviewers. Contractor accepted an invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. Only eight men selected and four females are admitted for a 20-week intensive course of classical theater. Her place was guaranteed during the upcoming season of shows, and she landed Hermia's role as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
